This page exists so that readers, users, journalists, and anyone else can see, in one place, how Unstuck relates to the other companies and properties associated with its founder. We would rather over-disclose than have any of this come as a surprise.
1. The Unstuck operating entity
The Unstuck app and the Unstuck website (beunstuck.app) are operated by shrinkMD Publishing LLC, a Florida limited liability company. Unstuck is a self-guided wellness and reflection app. It is not a clinical service.
2. Founder and creator
Unstuck was created by Shariq Refai, MD, MBA, FAPA, a board-certified psychiatrist. Shariq is also:
- Founder of shrinkMD, an independent multistate telepsychiatry practice.
- Creator of shrinQ, a structured educational system about anxiety, depression, and related conditions.
- Founder of shrinkMD Publishing LLC and author of books on overthinking, anxiety, and related topics.
- Medical editor for AnxietyResource.org and DepressionResource.org, educational properties in The Shrink Network.
- Founder of additional educational properties in The Shrink Network, which include Shrinkopedia, Shrinktionary, AnxietyResearch, PsychiatryRx, ShrinkDaily, and ShrinkNetwork.
3. Unstuck and shrinkMD are separate companies
Unstuck and shrinkMD share a founder. They do not share clinical services, patient records, or care delivery. shrinkMD is a clinical telepsychiatry practice. Unstuck is a self-guided wellness app and is not a clinical service of shrinkMD. Using Unstuck does not create a provider-patient relationship with shrinkMD or with any clinician.
There is one financial relationship to know about: shrinkMD members get free premium access to Unstuck as a membership benefit. That is a commercial arrangement between the two companies. It does not change what Unstuck does, and it does not make Unstuck part of anyone's care.
4. Editorial independence
Articles on the Unstuck Journal are written to be useful regardless of any other product or service in The Shrink Network. Where another property of the network is mentioned, the disclosure is made in plain English in the same paragraph. The editorial policy describes the review and approval process for every Journal article.
5. No paid placement
Unstuck does not accept paid placement, sponsored content, or affiliate promotion on the Unstuck website or the Unstuck Journal. We also do not run advertising in the Unstuck app.
External links from the Unstuck site to other properties owned or founded by Shariq Refai are editorial, not paid. They exist because the linked page is the most useful next read on a topic, and the relationship is disclosed.
6. Financial interests
Shariq Refai has a financial interest in Unstuck and in the other companies and properties listed in Section 2. The Unstuck team discloses this here so that readers can weigh it when reading anything we publish that mentions a related product.
